KABUL , 21 July 2026 (TON): At least 20 people were killed and more than 100 others remain missing after severe floods hit Parun, the capital of Nuristan province, on Monday. Several people were also injured, according to Afghanistan's National Disaster Preparedness Authority.
Officials said the reported figures are preliminary and the verified casualty and damage details will be released after further assessment. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation in the affected area.
Rescue teams are carrying out search and relief operations as efforts continue to locate missing people and assist families affected by the disaster.
