China Urges US to Respect One-China Position on Tibet

BEIJING, 10 July, 2026 (TON): China has called on the United States to refrain from supporting Tibetan independence, insisting that Tibet-related matters fall entirely within China's domestic affairs.

The statement followed remarks by the US State Department expressing support for preserving Tibetan culture and encouraging renewed dialogue between Beijing and the Dalai Lama. Chinese officials reiterated that Tibet, officially referred to as Xizang by Beijing, is an inseparable part of China.

China urged Washington to honor previous commitments regarding Tibet and avoid using the issue to interfere in its internal affairs.
