BEIJING, June 15, 2026 (TON): China's Ministry of Transport said a Chinese vessel rescued 41 people from the Mediterranean Sea and safely transferred them to Egyptian authorities.

The Egyptian Search and Rescue Center (ESARC) sent an alert on June 8 reporting that an inflatable liferaft carrying 41 people was in distress. The notice was received by a Hong Kong-registered vessel that was on a routine voyage in the area.

The vessel responded promptly and successfully rescued all 41 people before transferring them to Egyptian authorities. Egyptian officials later expressed their gratitude to the crew for their swift action.
