BEIJING, 8 July, 2026 (TON): At least 17 people have died, hundreds were injured and tens of thousands evacuated after a powerful typhoon triggered widespread flooding and severe storms across parts of China, according to state media.

Heavy rainfall caused flash floods in Guangxi Province, overwhelming communities including Renhe village and affecting the city of Nanning, where rescue operations were launched for stranded residents.

 President Xi Jinping has directed authorities to intensify rescue and relief efforts in the affected areas.
