KATHMANDU, June 19, 2026 (TON): India donated military stores worth USD 5.5 million to Sri Lanka to address shortages affecting the operational readiness of the Sri Lankan Army.

The supplies were delivered to Colombo and handed over in the presence of senior officials from both countries.

India has also approved several defence-related projects for Sri Lanka. During recent natural disasters, India assisted the country by deploying a field hospital and an engineering task force to support relief and reconstruction efforts.

Both countries said the assistance reflects their close defence partnership and India's foreign policy aimed at strengthening regional security and cooperation.
