NEW DELHI, 6 July 2026 (TON): India will participate in the inaugural United Nations Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance in Geneva on July 6 and 7, with Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh leading the Indian delegation.

The high-level event marks the launch of the UN's first universal multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to AI governance. The forum was established under the UN General Assembly's Resolution 79/325 following the adoption of the Global Digital Compact as part of the Pact of the Future in September 2024.

The dialogue seeks to strengthen international cooperation on AI governance while complementing national, regional, and multilateral initiatives. It will also focus on helping developing countries build the capacity to use artificial intelligence responsibly in support of sustainable development.
