WEST BENGAL, 21 August 2026 (TON): In the latest developments an additional 100 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been ordered to move to West Bengal. The units’ rear headquarters have confirmed movement with 2 to 3 days. Political authorities termed it as post poll deployment for political maneuvering but military movements of elements of 33 Corps from their peace location focuses operational plans somewhere else in the guise of disturbances in Assam and Bangladesh border. 

Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the State, who is on three days visit, is scheduled to visit elements at Siliguri alongwith Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. He would also hold a border-security review meeting on 22 August, to evaluate coordination among the military, BSF, SSB, intelligence agencies and state authorities. There are some unconfirmed reports that some elements of Eastern Command have been issued orders to move under other commands of Indian Army.
