ISLAMABAD June 29, 2026 (TON): Pakistan launched an intelligence-based operation against alleged terrorist targets in Afghanistan.
Pakistan's Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, said the strikes killed 29 militants and destroyed weapons and ammunition. He said the operation was carried out in response to a recent terrorist attack in Pakistan.
Afghanistan's spokesperson, Hamdullah Fitrat, said the strikes killed 38 civilians and injured more than 160 others. He accused Pakistan of targeting civilian areas.
The operation has further escalated tensions between the two neighbouring countries. Pakistan has accused the Taliban administration of allowing anti-Pakistan militant groups to operate from Afghan territory, while Kabul has repeatedly denied the allegations.
