SRINAGAR, 5 August 2026 (TON): Jammu and Kashmir Police prohibited all protests, rallies and public gatherings ahead of the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union, warning of strict action against violators.

The warning was issued by district police came ahead of Wednesday's 5 August anniversary and amid a protest call Al Party Hurriat Conference.

Heavy deployment of Indian Army and Security Forces were witnessed at every corner of Indian held Jammu and Kashmir, while the Kashmiris defying the orders carried out protest marches chanting slogans against the Indian atrocities

The police arrested 38 protesters from several places opened fire injuring at least two Kashmiris. There are reports of  that protests will gain momentum and may deteriorate security situation and Indian authorities are preventing public from assemblies.
