HANOI, 24 July 2026 (TON): Vietnam is planning new rules that would prevent children under 16 from posting, commenting, or reacting on social media platforms to improve online safety.
The draft decree would require under-16 accounts to be registered through a parent or guardian. Platforms would also have to verify users ages, protect children's privacy, and block harmful content.
The proposal also includes a 60 minute daily limit on online gaming for children under 16. If approved, Vietnam would join several countries introducing stricter digital safety measures for minors.
