MADRID, 11 July 2026 (TON): A fast-moving wildfire swept through an expatriate community in southern Spain, killing at least 12 people, injuring eight others and leaving 23 missing, authorities said.

Officials said several victims ignored advice to remain sheltered and instead attempted to flee through unsafe routes. Many of those killed were believed to be foreign nationals, while authorities warned that the death toll could increase.

Emergency crews continued rescue operations as firefighters battled the flames.
