BAGHDAD, 3 July 2026 (TON): The Prime Minister of Iraq Ali al-Zeydi and Jordan’s Minister of Industry , Trade and Supply  have agreed to accelerate the implementation of the Basra–Aqaba strategic oil pipeline project.

The proposed 1,700-kilometre pipeline is expected to transport up to 2.5 million barrels of oil per day, providing Iraq with an alternative export route through Jordan's Red Sea port of Aqaba while supplying Jordan with discounted crude oil.

The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
