Israel schedules general election for October 27

TEL AVIV, 13 July 2026 (TON): Israel will hold its next general election on October 27 after the current parliament completes its full four-year term, according to Israeli media reports.

The election date follows a request by the ruling coalition to allow the parliamentary term to conclude as originally scheduled. The Knesset is expected to begin its election recess on July 17.

According to Israeli media, political parties must submit their candidate lists by September 7. The election comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to face scrutiny over regional security issues.
