Philippines protests over China’s sanctions targeting its defense Secretary

MANILA June 13, 2026 (TON):  The Philippine government condemned China’s sanction targeting their defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Friday.

The Spokesperson of Foreign Ministry of China Lin Jian said on Thursday that Teodoro and his family are banned from entering China because of his remarks regarding Beijing.

Teodoro, appointed as defense chief by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in June 2023, has been among the strongest critics of China’s actions in the disputed South China Sea and its stance on Taiwan
