ANKARA, 8 July 2026 (TON): US President Donald Trump said the United States is considering lifting sanctions on Turkey and moving forward with a potential sale of F-35 fighter jets following talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The discussions come after Washington imposed sanctions on Ankara in 2020 over its purchase of the Russian-made S-400 air defence system, which also led to Turkey removal from the F-35 programme.
Reports say any potential agreement would still require approval through US legal and congressional procedures.
