WASHINGTON, 20 July 2026 (TON): The United States has reaffirmed its support for the Quad alliance ahead of major ASEAN meetings taking place this week in the Philippines.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said the Quad remains essential to maintaining a "free and open Indo-Pacific." In a post on X, he confirmed he would join US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the second Quad ministerial meeting of the year.

Rubio will attend ASEAN-related meetings in Manila from July 19 to 23, including the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
